For all Windows 64-bit operating systems. This installer application installs Archi to the Windows “Program Files” folder and associates “*.archimate” files with Archi. Use this version on 64-bit Macs. The architecture and design site, Architizer.com, has penned a pretty good article that goes over the pluses and minuses of considering either a Mac laptop or Windows PC laptop for young architects just starting out. The article covers all the bases and is also—and this is not always the case with this.

I have a Mac dual booted with OS X and Windows 10 with AutoCAD loaded on both partitions. I find that AutoCAD runs very well on both, but the Mac interface is slightly different. Personally I prefer running it on Windows as I'm used to that interface more. If you do want to use Mac, I'd recommend going top of the line iMac or MacBook Pro with quad core processors with 2.5 GHz or greater. I run it on my 2014 MacBook Pro retina 2.8 GHz quad core and its smooth as butter.
For my purposes as an engineering student, my Mac is able to draw a full water treatment plant in roughly 2 minutes through MathCAD code. Most students I know use a mac laptop. They dual boot. Very few people using Autocad now.
Most will use Rhino for modelling, and Rhino now has a mac native version. I gave up my office laptop about 6 years ago, as they would keep burning out.
The choices were big and heavy, or small and so hot they would fry. I started using my own Mac laptops (been a mac user since forever), and never looked back. Mostly on the OSX side with parallels for Rhino. It was a bit of a pain with earlier versions of OSX setting up on a Windows network, but I find it pretty easy now. OS X mail and calendar I prefer vastly over Outlook.
For research, image editing, syncing notes between phones/computer/etc, producing presentations on the run, etc, the MacBooks are all much better than Windows machines. I was travelling so much that I bought a 11' Macbook Air a few years ago. It went everywhere with me, every single day. 3d models, renders, drawing markups, presentations, photos, I did everything on it.
Last year I got a 15' retina. It's gorgeous and much more powerful.but I actually don't use it as much as the air because it's so big and bulky. I actually think having a 12' and an iMac would be the best of both worlds.
I am getting a book on manual drafting published. I have used romans.shx in CAD and Calibri in WORD for my illustrations. My editor has seen Archstyl.shx, city blueprint and country blueprint and want me to use one of these more hand-drawn looking fonts. Before I go to the expense of downloading one of them, I would like to see a sample of them first.
Would it be possible for you to e-mail me a sample of these fonts. Perferably in all caps and large print (equal to 24″ in publishing print or 12″ in CAD. Your site is wonderful. It is the only site hat gives samples of some fonts!!1 Thank you so much.
